We just got home from a wonderful trip to Wisconsin.
Last Saturday, I drove the kids, my mom, brother, and Shrek (one of their dogs) to the Chicago area. We met up with Zack (currently in Detroit area) for a nice visit that evening and the next morning. Cora enjoyed getting to hang out with him--and is still talking about "seeing Uncle Zack".
After lunch on Sunday, I took the kids up to the Milwaukee area for a few days. We were able to visit with Dr. Behnke and go to part of an Alleluia Ringers rehearsal--Cora even got to ring a bell :) We got a see a lot of people--although there are always more that we wish we could catch up with. We hung out with Kim and the boys one morning and took a road trip for jalapeno summer sausage with Joya and Tessa. We even got to attend a Chapel service at Concordia complete with a small ensemble and the Chapel Ringers--and, best of all, Cora was very well behaved during the service.
We were sad to say goodbye on Thursday morning, but also excited about going home to see Daddy. The kids did GREAT in the car. It was a little hectic to be a "single mom" for a week, but it was so nice to get a chance to see people and to take things kind of slow--as opposed to the crazy whirlwind trips we usually make. It was really neat to me that Cora (and George, sort of) got to meet and play with Tessa and Logan and Andrew.
