We have been working on learning The Ten Commandments and their meanings during our bedtime devotions. Last night it went something like this:
Patrick: So, George, do you know the 1st Commandment?
George: No other gods.
Patrick: What does this mean?
George: Trust above all things.
Cora ate her icecream too fast and got an icecream headache. She looked up and said, "I have a freezer burn!"
Nathan wore a new shirt to church this morning. It is a long sleeved dress shirt that not only buttons down the front, but also snaps in the crotch. It's awesome! All baby boys dress shirts should be made this way!
Cora has started to say "oopsey-goosey-loosey" while playing with her baby dolls. Sometimes she's in her own little world. It's pretty sweet.
Yesterday, the Cora word of the day was "decoratious". She was telling George, "These cups are decoratious!"
Today, she was playing with a toy and I told her not to be too long. She just looked at me and said, "I won't. I'll just be one long."
Last night, during a game of "Daddy Says", Cora was instructed to "count to 10 fast". She proceeded to run around the living room as fast as she could while counting "1...2...3..." between giggles. It was pretty darn cute - especially with George doing his best to follow.
We've had some amazingly warm weather the last couple of days. It's been so great! (I think I'll cry if we go back to snow!) Today the kids and I went for a walk on the trail. It was really nice to get out of the house and go for a walk - especially in light of the weather we've had over the last couple of weeks. Cora really enjoyed our walk - especially since she spent a decent amount of time running around. George was pretty excited to be out and about too. They were VERY excited when I stopped in the park and let them play for awhile. George was getting pretty good at climbing the steps, going down the slide feet first on his tummy, then running back to the steps. Cora was very cute! She wanted to show George all the fun things she's discovered about the playground equipment - different ways to climb up, all the different slides.... We had a really fun afternoon!
What is it about cheesy noodles that makes little kids think "hair gel"?
George's Baptismal hymn:
Baptized into Your name most holy,
O Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
I claim a place, though weak and lowly,
Among Your saints, Your chosen host.
Buried with Christ and dead to sin,
Your Spirit now shall live within.
My loving Father, here you take me
To be henceforth Your child and heir.
My faithful Savior, here you make me
The fruit of all Your sorrows share.
O Holy Spirit, comfort me
When threat'ning clouds around I see.
My faithful God, You fail me never;
Your promise surely will endure.
O cast me not away forever
If words and thoughts become impure.
Have mercy when I come defiled;
Forgive, lift up, restore Your child.
All that I am and love most dearly--
Receive it all, O Lord, from me.
Let me confess my faith sincerely;
Help me Your faithful child to be!
Let nothing that I am or own
Serve any will but Your's alone.
Happy Birthday, George! We love you super noodles!
Our little George is getting to be a big boy! At his 12 month check up, he was 24 pounds 4 ounces and 32 inches long. He has 8 teeth and can use a fork fairly well. He doesn't talk much, but he makes a lot of different sounds and definitely understands what we are saying. I was very impressed when he finished playing with his toys then picked them up without being asked today. George is a proficient walker and can run when he wants to. He does his best to keep up with his big sister in everything, and has a pretty affectionate personality.
